Summary
160307-N-AV234-043 SAN DIEGO (March 7, 2016) Seaman Elizabeth Heck, a plank owner assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), receives her Information Dominance Warfare Specialist pin during a pinning ceremony in the ships forecastle before being “rung off” the ship. Plank owners traditionally receive two bells followed by rate, name and “plank owner departing” when departing the ship for the last time. America is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design.
