description

Summary

Chief Builder Billy Knox, originally from Chapin, Ill., and Navy Misawa snow team leader, shakes hands and bows to a girl who brought his team cake at their build site. The team is creating a snow sculpture for the 64th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival. They traveled from Naval Air Facility Misawa and created a sculpture on behalf of the base for the city's annual festival on northern Japan’s Hokkaido Island. This is the 30th year that the naval installation has sent a delegation of sailors to take part in the city's festival. The team made a replica of USS George Washington's forecastle out of snow and ice. (U.S. Navy photo by Senior Chief Mass Communication Specialist Daniel Sanford/Released)
