Summary
150602-N-IU636-055 PEARL HARBOR (June 2, 2015) The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ship JS Kashima (TV 3508) transits Pearl Harbor as it arrives at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Kashima is joined by JS Yamagiri (DD 152) and JS Shimayuki (TV 3513) for a scheduled port visit. While in Hawaii, JMSDF sailors will participate in wreath-laying ceremonies at the USS Arizona Memorial, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) and Makiki Cemetery. The JMSDF has been making similar port visits to Pearl Harbor for more than 50 years and have, through presentations and official meetings, reinforced a commitment to peace and security in Northeast Asia as part of the U.S.-Japan alliance.
