150630-N-DT805-030 PEARL HARBOR (June 30, 2015) Mazie Hirono, U.S. senator from Hawaii, receives a briefing from Lt. Cmdr. Andrew Lovgren, fuel director and actions officer, Navy Supply Fleet Logistics Center, during a tour of Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility. The Red Hill facility was built between 1940 and 1943. Each of its 20 cylindrical tanks is 250 feet tall and 100 feet in diameter. Each can hold up to 12.5 million gallons of fuel. For more than 70 years, the Red Hill fuels facility has been a national strategic asset.
