(April. 28, 2017) A recruit award winner shakes the hand of the Ryne Sandberg, the guest of honor during a boot camp graduation ceremony April 28, at Recruit Training Command. Sandberg, a former Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies player was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in January 2005. He attended the graduation as a guest of Rear Admiral Stephen Evans, commander, Naval Service Training Command. About 30,000-40,000 recruits graduate annually from the Navy's only boot camp.
