Charles Bolden, retired Marine Corps major general and former administrator and astronaut at National Aeronautics and Space Administration, speaks to students, staff and faculty during U.S. Naval War College’s (NWC) inaugural Future Warfighting Symposium held at the college in Newport, Rhode Island. The symposium responds directly to the Chief of Naval Operations’ call for increased education in the topics of emerging technologies, cyber war and space operations. The symposium also launched NWC’s academic year by convening subject-matter experts to supplement the core curriculum.
