181217-N-AT530-0212 NORFOLK, Va. (Dec. 17, 2018) – Cmdr. Steve Schmidt, Fort McHenry’s commanding officer, renders honors to the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS San Jacinto (CG 56) after getting underway aboard the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43). Fort McHenry is making a scheduled deployment as part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Readiness Group in support of maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation, while also providing a forward naval presence.
