(Aug. 1, 2019) Chief Navy Counselor Todd Trombley, assigned to Navy Recruiting District (NRD) St. Louis, talks to recruits with the 61st Annual Recruit Cardinal Division after a final evaluation aboard USS Trayer (BST 21) at Recruit Training Command, Aug. 1, 2019. Trayer, more commonly referred to as "Battle Stations," is the crucible event that recruits must pass prior to graduation, testing their knowledge and skills in basic seamanship, damage control, firefighting and emergency response procedures. Cardinal Division is named after the St. Louis Cardinals, who have sponsored such groups annually since 1958, and is the U.S. Navy’s longest-running special recruit division.
