Vega is one of 39 future chief petty officers living aboard Battleship Missouri for Chief Petty Officer Legacy Academy. The Battleship Missouri Memorial Chief Petty Officer Legacy Academy is one of several live-aboard chief petty officer legacy academies around the Navy. These legacy academies provide an opportunity for Sailors selected to become chief petty officers to live Navy heritage. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt.
