191111-N-RX815-0391 U-TAPAO, Thailand (Nov. 11, 2019) Lt. Victor de Leon, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s Detail Thailand officer in charge; Capt. Oonnatee, Royal Thai Navy’s base operations commander; and local Thais are taking part in a traditional Thai event called the Loi Krathong, where people float a small craft called Krathongs made out of banana leaves and flowers. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
