The donations are part of a coordinated effort between the Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s Humanitarian Assistance Program and the U.S. Mission to Italy, with NAS Sigonella facilitating the second of three donations of PPE to local hospitals in Catania on behalf of the U.S. Navy. NAS Sigonella’s strategic location enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to deploy and respond as required to ensure security and stability in Europe, Africa and Central Command.
