A detainee artist in Camp Bucca's art center sketches
Summary
A detainee artist in Camp Bucca's art center sketches out his next work. Camp Bucca not only provides for the care and custody of about 20,000 persons determined under U.N. resolution to be imperative security threats, but it provides programs to engage the detainees in reconciling themselves with positive and productive participation in the future of Iraq. Detainees complete basic literacy courses in English and Arabic, learn marketable vocational skills such as carpentry, masonry and textile work, and also have the opportunity to express themselves through painting.
