A Dominican boy is examined by U.S. Army doctor Col. (ret) Kevin Winkle (left), an ophthalmologist from Elmendorf, Alaska, for eye surgery July 24 at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Dominican physicians, including medical interns and medical residents, worked side by side with U.S. military doctors and ophthalmologists July 10-27 during a medical readiness and training exercise planned by the U.S. Army Medical Command and U.S. Army South.
