Summary

A member of the Raqqah Internal Security Force's (RISF) Quick Reaction Force (QRF) assists teaching his fellow members marksmenship training on Nov.6 2017 in northern Syria. The QRF training consists of three phases of different military tactics to enable the RISF to successfully secure areas that were once controlled by ISIS.The RISF, a counter-ISIS hold force accountable to the people of Raqqah through the Raqqah Civil Council, are responsible for securing Raqqah, Tabaqah, and surrounding areas, post liberation from ISIS. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
