A Soldier from Battery C, First Battalion, 119th Field Artillery Regiment, Michigan National Guard, guides a CH-47 Chinook helicopter from the 3rd Battalion, 238th General Support Aviation Regiment into landing position during sling-load operations at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center in Grayling, Mich., during Northern Strike 15, July 26, 2015. Northern Strike combines ground and air capabilities and brings together aircraft from more than a dozen units, and ground troops from more than 20 states and four coalition countries across northern Michigan. Northern Strike is the only exercise of this size and scope for the Michigan Guard and integrates ground-based mortars and artillery weapon systems with attack aircraft to support maneuver forces on the ground. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
