A symbol of Korean and United Nations service members
Summary
A symbol of Korean and United Nations service members who sacrificed their lives, “The Drop” is one of the displays that Marines with Combat Assault Battalion observed July 17 at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The sculpture consists of more than 1,000 dog tags of fallen service members formed into a teardrop, and wrapped in barbed wire. Marines with CAB visited historical sites in South Korea before participating in Korean Marine Exchange Program 14-12. KMEP is a regularly scheduled, small-unit training exercise that enhances the ROK and U.S. alliance, promotes stability on the Korean Peninsula, and strengthens interoperability between ROK and U.S. Marines. The participating Marines are with CAB, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Diamond N. Peden/Released)
