A US Navy (USN) F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter aircraft, Strike Fighter Squadron 102 (VFA-102), Diamondbacks, Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan (JPN), over the edge as it launches from one of four steam powered catapults aboard USN Aircraft Carrier USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63). The Diamondbacks are a new addition to Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) embarked aboard the HAWK, replacing the F-14A Tomcats fighter aircraft of Fighter Squadron 154 (VF-154). Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), the HAWK is the United States only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan
