Summary
Afghan National Army (ANA) medic assigned to 2nd Kandak, 203rd Corps, provide oxygen and IV medication to an injured ANA soldier at Combat Outpost (COP) Lilly, Paktika province, Afghanistan, on May 20, 2013. While patrolling near Observation Post Maiwand the ANA soldier struck an improvised explosive device. The soldier was treated by field medics at the point of injury then evacuated to COP Lilley where he received a higher level of care. The improvements in ANA medical care and evacuation capabilities are improving the quality of care for injured soldiers and increasing survival rates. (U.S. Army Photo by Spc.
