An Afghan National Army soldier steps forward to receive a certificate and cadre hat from the ANA Command Sgt. Maj. Roshan Safi, during a ceremony at a NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan location near the capital city of Kabul. The soldier is one of 45 who completed the train the trainer course May 11. Coalition forces are currently building the Afghan army one unit at a time with the assistance of seasoned Afghan National Army soldiers who are now filling the role of cadre. On average, one Afghan kandak begins their training weekly with another graduating at the same rate. Lt. Gen. David M. Rodriguez, commander, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, said the end of 2014 transition timeline is on track during a May 16, press conference at ISAF Headquarters.
