An Australian Defence Force No. 75 Squadron F/A-18
Summary
An Australian Defence Force No. 75 Squadron F/A-18 Hornet takes off from RAAF Base Tindal during Talisman Sabre 2011. No. 75 Squadron is operating from its home base of Royal Australian Air Force Base Tindal for Talisman Sabre 2011. It is flying a mix of "Blue" and "Red" Force missions with United States Air Force F-15C Eagles flying from RAAF Base Darwin, and F/A-18E and F Super Hornets from the United States Navy aircraft carrier USS George Washington. Talisman Sabre 2011 is a U.S.-led, Australian-supported exercise to improve combat training, readiness and interoperability, across the spectrum of military operations from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts. The exercise forms part of the Australia Defence Force's extensive training program to ensure the ADF is prepared to protect and support Australia and its national interests. The exercise also contributes to the ability of Australian and U.S. military forces to work together efficiently and safely. By working with the U.S. military forces, the exercise strengthens proactive and responsive strategies and enhances measures to defend Australia and its national interests (Australian Defence Force photo by Cpl.
