An F-22 Raptor assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., lands after completing a training mission during Northern Lightning, a training exercise held annually at Volk Field, Wisc., Aug. 12, 2020. They join more than 50 aircraft from 12 Air National Guard, Air Force, and Navy units, including the F-35A Lightning IIs from the 158th Fighter Wing, Vermont Air National Guard, F-22 Raptors from the 1st Fighter Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, F-16 Falcons from the Wisconsin National Guard, as well as T-38 Talons and L-159Es from Draken International acting as aggressor aircrafts conducting simulated combat missions in a joint-service environment.
