Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos, greets Marines assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 14 prior to a ceremony celebrating the 235th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Amos joined the VMFA-323 Marines aboard Ronald Reagan for the day to speak during the ceremony, which included the traditional cake-cutting and a reading of the first Marine Corps birthday message from the 13th Marine Corps Commandant Gen. John A. Lejeune, originally published on Nov. 1, 1921. VMFA-323 is currently embarked aboard Ronald Reagan completing a Composite Training Unit Exercise in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
