PACIFIC OCEAN (JULY 27, 2016) Petty Officer 3rd Class Hotae Kim, boatswain's mate and also an interpreter, was born in Seoul and has served in the Republic of Korea Navy for one year. He works at Maritime Task Flotilla 7 in Jeju-do, which is a beautiful island in Korea. For this exercise, he is detached to Republic of Korea Ship Sejong the Great.
"As an interpreter, I do exercise conference interpretations, document translations and support administrative work. Also as a Boatswain's mate, I lookout on the bridge and help ship's repair."
"RIMPAC is really important to me. I am very proud that I can meet a variety of sailors and do cultural and diplomatic interchange as a representative of ROK Navy.
