Summary
FORT BELVOIR, VA.-- (May 2, 2018)--
Realistic training is on full display as Belvoir Hospital medical residents participate in a tactical combat casualty course May 2, 2018.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC or TC3) is the standard of care in Prehospital Battlefield Medicine. Originally a Naval Special Warfare and USSOCOM Medical Research & Development initiative, TCCC developed battlefield appropriate and evidence-based casualty care based on injury patterns of previous conflicts. The primary intent of TCCC is to reduce preventable combat death through a means that allows a unit to complete its mission while providing the best possible care for casualties.
The Belvoir Hospital is a 120-bed, 1.3 million-square-foot military community hospital that serves a regional population of 250,000 personnel with about 100,000 enrollees receiving inpatient and specialty care services supported by 55 specialty clinics, a Warrior Pavilion (for combat injured/wounded/ ill), Inpatient Addictions Program, and three satellite family health centers at the Pentagon, Dumfries and Fairfax, Va.
