FORT BLISS, TEXAS – Air Force Staff Sgt. Paul Rosales checks his map prior to starting out on the day land navigation course April 19. The course was the first of two land navigation courses that Rosales was required to successfully complete as a candidate at the Air Force Ranger Assessment Course 16-1 which runs through May 3. The course, a pre-requisite for all Airmen wishing to attend Army Ranger School, is a 15-day physical and mental endurance test, designed to mirror the first two weeks of Ranger School. 24 candidates are currently in the course. Rosales is stationed at Aviano Air Base, Italy.
