German medical corps soldiers visit center before deployment
Summary
GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany (May 15, 2013) -- Thirty-two soldiers and faculty from the language department of the German Bundeswehr medical academy in Munich pose for a photo following a tour of the Defense Department's George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies May 14. The students honed their English skills by learning about Marshall Center operations during a one-hour mission briefing that included a question-and-answer session in English. The briefing and tour prepared the soldiers for operations abroad or for use in international institutions such as the Marshall Center or NATO. The tour, conducted by German air force Senior Master Sgt. Mark Winkler, Marshall Center public affairs NCO (first row, far right), also included a walking tour of the Marshall Center campus and lunch at the center's dining facility. Winkler said German soldiers were surprised that the Americans still share facilities with German Bundeswehr members. (DOD Photo by Karlheinz Wedhorn/RELEASED)
