MOBILE, Ala. (Sept. 16, 2005) Night vision image of the motor tanker, Energy Spirit, taken from the Coast Guard's maritime security cutter, Northland, while in transiting just outside the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP) Sept. 16. The Energy Spirit is more than 900 feet long and 150 feet wide. The Portsmouth, Va.,-based Coast Guard Cutter Northland is patrolling the LOOP conducting homeland security inspections in support of resuming maritime commerce along the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina, the most devastating hurricane to strike the United States.
