Italian army soldiers from the 2nd Engineer Regiment Pointieri Piacenza and U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion, assemble a section of a bridge during training as part of exercise Livorno Shock at Leghorn Army Depot in Italy, Oct. 21, 2016. Livorno Shock is a combined readiness exercise led by the Italian army's 2nd Engineer Regiment Pontieri and is designed to familiarize U.S. Army paratroopers with river crossing tactics, techniques and procedures. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deploying forces to the U.S. Army Europe, Africa, and Central Command areas of responsibility within 18 hours.
