Japan Ground Self Defense Force soldiers load a simulated casualty into a medical vehicle during Military Operations in Urban Terrain training as apart of Exercise Iron Fist, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 26, 2017. MOUT is a combat course that allows the Japanese soldiers and U.S. Marines to train in an urban environment where they clear, secure, and maneuver through buildings while taking simulated enemy fire. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
