Marine veteran Daniel L. Govier from Boscobel, Wisc.,
Summary
Marine veteran Daniel L. Govier from Boscobel, Wisc., will compete in the 2012 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30-May 5. Govier, 32, will compete in archery and shooting. Govier is a three-time All-Marine Warrior Games team member. He won a gold medal last year in archery and has high expectations for his performance this year. He serves as a mentor to his teammates and shares his experiences with them. Govier got into archery after his injury. He wanted to hunt again, but sitting in the woods and hearing gunshots aggravated his post traumatic stress. He took up archery, which was initially challenging because he does not have a collar bone. Govier wants to build upon his previous success and work his way to becoming a Paralympics archer. More than 200 wounded, ill or injured service members from the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Special Operations Command are scheduled to compete in the Paralympic-style competition.
