Marines from Reconnaissance Platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct helocast training from a CH-46E “Sea Knight” belonging to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 13th MEU, in the Persian Gulf during Exercise Nautical Union, May 26, 2011. This training provided reconnaissance Marines the first opportunity to practice this capability since they left on deployment in February. The 13th MEU is deployed with Boxer Amphibious Ready Group as the U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, also providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
