Summary

Master Sgt. Ryan Voigt, a a bioenvironmental engineering technician with the 176th Medical Group, Alaska Air National Guard, agitates a sample of water, May 8, 2011. He was the waster for the amount of chlorine in it. Voigt was in Alabama to help test the waste water for permit compliance and related treatment adjustments, and with drinking water for chlorine amount. They were also deploy with another seventy service members from numerous military components and services in Hayneville for an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission. The IRT program allows for real world training opportunities for military personnel while providing needed services to under-served communities in the United States. The objects in this collection are from The U.S. National Archives and Defense Visual Information Distribution Service. The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 by President Franklin Roosevelt. The Defense Visual Information Distribution Service provides a connection between world media and the American military personnel serving at home and abroad. All of these materials are preserved because they are important to the workings of Government, have long-term research worth, or provide information of value to citizens.
