MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 15, 2018) U.S. Marines assigned to Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit fire a simulated, gas-operated M2 machine gun indoor simulation marksmanship training (ISMT) aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) March 15, 2018. ISMT helps Marines maintain their weapons skills and proficiency by using a simulated environment on a projected screen while Marines use specialized weapons to simulate mechanical functions and adjust fire to maintain readiness while deployed to U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
