Members of Destroyer Squadron 50 depart the merchant vessel M/V Arcturus Voyager on a rigid-hulled inflatable boat during Lucky Mariner 2013. LM13 is an annual exercise between U.S. Navy forces, Royal Navy forces, coalition observers, and Naval Cooperation for Guidance and Shipping that helps merchant vessels in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility better coordinate on how to avoid, deter and manage maritime threats to sea commerce. Winston S. Churchill is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility, conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
