New York National Guard Soldiers of 1 Battalion 258th Field Artillery enter the rear of a CH47F Chinook helicopter belonging to Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation, New York Army National Guard, during sling load training at Fort Drum, New York on Saturday July 27th, 2019. During sling load training a M777 howitzer is attached to a CH47F Chinook helicopter via a specially designed cable and lifted off the ground to simulate doing so in a combat environment.The 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery Soldiers were conducting live fire training and other exercises at Fort Drum as part of their two week annual training.
