OCP uniform now authorized, Air National Guard
Summary
SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich.-- On October 1, 2018, Staff Sgt. Travis Evans, defender with the 127th Security Forces Squadron, exercised his new right to wear previously-owned, operational-camouflage-patterned uniform for domestic duty. Prior to this date, Airmen could only wear OCP-uniforms while deployed overseas to specific duty locations.
On September 28, 2018, the Air Force distributed AFI36-2903_AFGM2018-03, providing policy and guidance for all military personnel serving in the United States Air Force, Reserve and Guard components on changes, additions and deletions from the previous guidance. Airmen have the option to wear serviceable OCPs, or purchase them personally from authorized retailers until April 1, 2021, when the wear of the OCP uniform will be mandatory and the Airmen Battle Uniformed will be officially phased out.
Among changes to the authorized duty uniforms, changes to the AFI include detail on female hair length, authorized hairstyles for men and women alike, sunglasses, service dress and more. (Air National Guard photo by Munnaf H. Joarder.)
