Summary
Pfc. Michael Duffy, 56th Engineer Company (Vertical), of Audubon, N.J., takes up a defensive position as the unit conducts mounted and dismounted battle drills at JBER-Richardson, Sept. 8. Reacting to simulated ambushes, the soldiers practiced dismounting techniques which included cover and concealment, perimeter security, and communication skills. Once secure, the unit immediately formed to conduct squad level movements, using direct fire to react to visual enemy contact and later identifying and confirming improvised explosive device threats.
