Portuguese infantry Capt. Fausto Ferreira de Campos offers some insight to an Afghan National Army soldier on Kabul Military Training Center, Jan. 12, 2011. Part of the first contingent of Portuguese trainers to touch down in Afghanistan, infantry Capt. Fausto Ferreira de Campos works closely with Afghan trainers to ensure they can prepare ANA soldiers as best they can. The Portuguese team has been on the ground since Sept. 28, 2010 and have taken on three major tasks:
mentoring the staff command Team Leader's Course, working closely with Afghan trainers and reviewing final results of TLC students, and, lastly, helping the Afghan instructors build confidence in their own training. Training Afghan trainers is a key element of NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan's success.
