Summary
ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. – Dr. Bruce Jette, assistant secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology toured the Rock Island Arsenal – Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center June 5.
In his first visit to the vertically integrated metal manufacturer, Jette participated in an hour briefing of the facility’s capabilities, current Army programs and the future vision of RIA-JMTC.
Jette then toured the factory, seeing the M997A3 Ambulance line, the Heavy Equipment Transporter Urban Survivability Kit as well as capabilities of the foundry, welding and plating. The tour rounded out with an extensive visit to the Advanced and Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence.
Jette was a co-signer for the campaign plan for advanced manufacturing. The plan features five primary lines of efforts to guide implementation of additive manufacturing, a subset of advanced manufacturing, across the force. The five lines of effort span the policy, training, research and equipment needs to ensure Soldiers and civilians are ready to integrate additive manufacturing.
