S06-10-423 - STS-006 - MS Musgrave and MS Peterson in PLB during IUS Contingency EVA Operations
Summary
The original finding aid described this as:
Description: Mission Specialist (MS) Musgrave, wearing extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) and designated EV1, operates winch at aft bulkhead extravehicular activity (EVA) winch worksite while MS Peterson, EV2, adjusts winch rope/cable routing to Airborne Support Equipment (ASE) aft tilt frame actuator (AFTA) table tube assembly. During Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) ASE Contingency Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Operations in aft payload bay (PLB), ASE forward frame, umbilical boom, and ASE aft frame appear in the foreground and orbital maneuvering system (OMS) pods and vertical tail in the background. IUS ASE Contingency EVA Operations would be necessary in the event of tilt table actuator failure but not required for normal IUS Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) deployment.
