Summary
The original finding aid described this as:
Description: Dark views of the Astronomy Laboratory 1 (ASTRO-1) payload documented in the payload bay (PLB) of Columbia, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 102, during the STS-35 mission. ASTRO-1 is made up of: three ultraviolet telescopes that are mounted on a common structure called the cruciform and attached to the instrument pointing system (IPS); the star tracker (S TRK); the Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (UIT); and the Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope (HUT). In the foreground and in front of the unpressurized spacelab pallet (U-pallet) is the igloo, a pressurized cylindrical container that houses the subsystems that provide such services as power, telemetry and commands to the instruments.
