Description: STS-49 Mission Specialist (MS) Kathryn C. Thornton (dashed stripe) and MS Thomas D. Akers (diagonal stripe) attach portable foot restraint (PFR) to the forward socket on the multipurpose experiment support structure (MPESS) as part of the Assembly of Station by Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Methods (ASEM). In Endeavour's, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 105's, payload bay, the two astronauts prepare to collect struts to begin an ASEM structure build-up effort on the mission's fourth EVA. Strapped on Akers' portable life support system (PLSS) is the crew propulsive device (CPD) bottle pack. This image was selected by the Public Affairs Office for general release.
