Samuel Olafson, a Keflavik, Iceland, native, brings up the weight during a squat clean as he completes the first workout of the day, or WOD, at the Mission Afghanistan Games Oct. 21 at the U.S. Embassy. Olafson, who works with force protection at ISAF, and his partner took second place in the men's scaled division and often trains with the ISAF Joint Command CrossFit crew. The embassy played host to military and civilians deployed in and around the Kabul area to promote both the sport of CrossFit and overall physical fitness.
