Seaman James Winkfield observes the port side of USS
Summary
Seaman James Winkfield observes the port side of USS Carter Hall (LSD-50) and relays information to and from the ship’s bridge during a strait passage exercise Dec. 13, 2016 at sea. The simulated strait passage pitted the ARG against a myriad of potential real-world threats such as small attack boats with armed personnel and fast moving aircraft overhead harassing the three U.S. Navy vessels. ARGMEUEX is a a three-week training evolution intended to build upon previous relationships, thereby enhancing Navy and Marine Corps interoperability and amphibious warfare capabilities to tackle a wide range of operations. Winkfield is a Phillipsburg, New Jersey native. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Matthew Callahan)
