Security forces member, U.S. Army Spc. Justin Hatfield, stands watch for the Ghazni Provincial Reconstruction Team’s halted convoy Sept. 13 along Highway 1 in Qarah Bagh District, Afghanistan. The Manning, S.C., native provided security with other members while PRT engineers evaluated and documented improvised explosive device holes on Highway 1. The IED holes are a major disruption for Afghan drivers, and PRT members dismounted from their vehicles to explain to the traffic that they were trying to check on the holes. The drivers willingly complied with the PRT’s instructions once they learned about the good intentions of the road block.
