Senior Airman Demarcus Garrett is competing in the cycling competition as part of the 2019 Air Force Trials at Nellis AFB, Nev. He's using a hand-cycle which helps athletes adapt if they have lower body impairments that may keep them from being able to ride an upright cycle. Air Force Trials is a Paralympic-style competitive event featuring eleven adaptive sports. It has a two-fold purpose, one is to select the 40-person primary and 10-person alternate members for Team Air Force.
