Sgt. Damian Raigalipiy, a mechanic and security forces sergeant for Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment, Guam Army National Guard, stands guard atop a 40-foot tall perimeter wall at Qala-I-Jangi, Balkh province, northern Afghanistan. Qala-I-Jangi was known as the "House of War" during a 2001 prisoner uprising that led to the death of former CIA officer Johnny Spann. Spann became the first American casualty in the war in Afghanistan and Operation Enduring Freedom. Qala-I-Jangi is also where John Walker Lindh was discovered.
