STS072-324-037 - STS-072 - EVA 2 activity in the payload bay during STS-72 mission
Summary
The original finding aid described this as:
Description: STS-72 Mission Specialist Leroy Chiao (EV1) installs a thermal cover over the Portable Data Acquisition Package (PDAP) which will collect loads data. The PDAP is mounted on Bay 3 of the starboard payload bay sill. Loads evaluation is part of the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Development Flight Test 3 (EDFT-03) and is called DTO 671, EVA hardware for future scheduled EVA missions (027-29). Chiao now stands in an articulating portable foot restraint (APFR) attached to the Crew Loads Acquisition System (CLAS) sensor plate 2 (S2) on Bay 1 of the starboard payload bay sill (031-37). In these views of Chiao, the Office of Aeronautics and Space Technology- Flyer (OAST-Flyer), Spartan Flight Support Structure, and Japanese Space Flyer Unit (SFU) dominate. Mission Specialist Winston Scott (EV3) stands in a portable foot restraint (PFR) attached to Bay 2 of the port payload bay sill. Scott evaluates the utility boxes mounted in Bay 1 and 2 (030). The electronic cuff checklist (ECC), DTO 672, can be seen on Scott's left arm.
