STS082-314-022 - STS-082 - EVA 1 activity on Flight Day 4 to service the Hubble Space Telescope
Summary
The original finding aid described this as:
Description: Extravehicular Activity (EVA) 1 on Flight Day 4 to service the Hubble Space Telescope on this second servicing mission (HST SM-02). Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) suited astronauts Steve Smith and Mark Lee change out the original Faint Object Spectrometer (FOS) for the new Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) orbital replacement unit (ORU). Tanner stands on the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) Manipulator Foot Restraint (MFR) and Lee looks inside the open aft shroud bay boors at the empty location where the new NICMOS ORU will be placed (022-24). Tanner holds the NICMOS ORU and moves it into the telescope (025-27). Lee moves up next to Tanner to check the connections on NICMOS inside the telescope (028-30).
