STS082-704-097 - STS-082 - EVA 1 activity on Flight Day 4 to service the Hubble Space Telescope
Summary
The original finding aid described this as:
Description: Extravehicular Activity (EVA) 1 on Flight Day 4 to service the Hubble Space Telescope on this second servicing mission (HST SM-02). Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) suited astronauts Mark Lee and Steve Smith work on the telescope. Smith, standing on Remote Manipulator System (RMS) Manipulator Foot Restraint (MFR), prepares to remove the new Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) from the Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) Carrier (ORUC) Axial Scientific Instrument Protective Enclosure (ASIPE) stowage container. The +V2 aft shroud doors are open showing clearly the empty space where the STIS will be placed. The Goddard High Resolution Spectometer (GHRS) which was removed from the aft shroud is stored temporarily on the ORUC aft fixture.
